They gladden our senses. They brighten our surroundings. But more than anything else, gardens heal ... not just places but people. Since 1932, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy has dedicated itself to saving the places where we live, and gardens are central to that mission. Working with more than 5,000 volunteers, we have planted more than 400 gardens throughout western Pennsylvania. These newly green spaces are literally transforming communities -- reclaiming blighted spaces, instilling local pride, and creating new cadres of caring citizens, young and old alike, who have dedicated themselves to revitalizing their towns and cities. Flower beds may not save communities, but they help communities save themselves. That's why WPC wants to go on bringing nature's beauty to vacant lots, schoolyards, and byways across this great state. And that's why we need your help.
