Havens, Houses, Forts and Factories: Fayette-Westmoreland's Architectural Heritage
General study of American architecture using building examples in Fayette and Westmoreland Counties, but easily adapted to any eastern United States community. Presents architecture as a cultural barometer of history, a way to help students understand their communities, and to foster aesthetic awareness of the principles of design. All materials may be photocopied for classroom use. Recommended for grades 4 and up. 69 pp. (Currently out of print; available spring 2000)

Use with the Curriculum Guide or alone. Includes learning activities to conduct before, during, and after your visit. 12 pp.

Slide Programs
Designed to be used with the Curriculum and Study Guides, but may also be used independently. Scripts included. Equipment needed: Carousel slide projector, tray, and screen.

Fallingwater: A Conversation with Edgar J. Kaufmann, jr.
An in-depth look at Fallingwater's design, its importance as the greatest American house of this century, and the role it played in the Kaufmann family's life. Based on extended interviews with Fallingwater patron Edgar J. Kaufmann jr., noted Wright scholar, and architectural historian. Includes rare historical film footage and photographs. 56 minutes.

The House on the Waterfall
Basic history of the design and construction of Fallingwater. Includes home movie footage of the Kaufmann family at Fallingwater, its construction, and interviews with three of Wright's apprentices and the late Edgar Kaufmann, jr. 30 minutes.

The Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright
Engaging biographic portrait of the architect who created Fallingwater. The program traces the evolution of Wright's vision of architecture in harmony with nature. 75 minutes.

Frank Lloyd Wright: The Office for Edgar J. Kaufmann
Explores the historical and social context for the office which Wright designed for Kaufmann's downtown Pittsburgh department store, now installed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. 30 minutes.

CD-ROM and CAD:

Fallingwater in 3-D Studio by Laura Sanchez and Alex Sanchez (Onword, 388pp. plus 3.5" diskette)
Uses Fallingwater to guide the beginning and intermediate CAD user through the 3-D program. Equipment needed: an IBM-compatible 386 with at least 8 megabytes of RAM, hard drive with at least 20 megabytes free, plus the 3-D Studio program.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater Interactive Tour (Omniview, CD-ROM)
Over 30 360-degree photos, featuring PhotoBubbles. Choose your own starting point, take a guided tour, or travel from room to room. Includes still photographs from Fallingwater's archival and fine arts collections. Available for Macintosh and Windows.
