The Frank Lloyd Wright designed furniture for Fallingwater is veneered North Carolina Black Walnut, manufactured by the Gillen Woodworking Company of Milwaukee. Wright specifically requested that the wood grain be used horizontally, rather than vertically, in order to resist warping and the ever present moisture of the setting. Additionally, a nine-ply wood (ships quality) was used to further reduce the possibility of warping. |
