Long before class-action lawsuits became the rage, Lake Pleasant offered a toboggan slide as a quick and exciting way to enter its celebrated waterway. Featured today is a postcard from 1909 showcasing this recreational activity at the Erie County glacial lake. Recently, WPC focused on the recreational, environmental education, and restoration opportunities at Lake Pleasant, as well as the overall health of the lake, its rare species and fragile ecosystem. The result is the recent completion of the Lake Pleasant Master Site Plan and a comprehensive watershed assessment. The Master Site Plan was completed this month, and provides WPC with a vision for the conservation and enhancement of the Lake Pleasant Conservation Area, which is the name applied to the WPC-owned lands surrounding the lake. Lake
Pleasant provides WPC with an excellent opportunity to practice our mission
of connecting people to the natural world by saving the places we care
about. Through the planning and watershed assessment process, WPC learned
how much the local community cares about the health of Lake Pleasant and
as a neighbor, we are proud to be part of the efforts to conserve this
remarkable place. E-mail Today's WPC Daily to a Friend! Rediscover western Pennsylvania every morning with WPC Daily. Become a Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Member View the winning WPC Dailies so far this year Vote for the best of June (final days)
