Fish for Free Day

Take a friend fishing today. This is one of two Fish for Free days, sponsored by the Fish and Boat Commission.

Fish for Free Days allow anyone, not just license holders or youth under the age of 16, to fish legally for Pennsylvania’s most popular fish. Each year the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission's Executive Director designates two Fish for Free Days. No fishing license is needed to fish on Pennsylvania's waterways all day May 24 and June 7, 2003. All other fishing regulations still apply.

The photo at left shows Edgar Kaufmann Sr. enjoying one of his favorite pasttimes. His love of the sport and, particularly Bear Run, led Kaufmann to ask Frank Lloyd Wright to build his family a weekend home on the 1,600 acre property. Today Fallingwater stands as not only Wright's masterwork, but was recently voted the most important building of the 20th century, in a survey conducted by the American Institute of Architects.
