Trail Blazers This Saturday, May 24th, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will hold its annual volunteer Bear Run Nature Reserve trail-clearing day. Bear Run Nature Reserve (Fayette County) is a 5,000-acre natural area located near the Frank Lloyd Wright masterwork, Fallingwater. The twenty miles of hiking trails are perfect for hiking, bird watching, cross-country skiing, and nature study. The forest is home to an abundance of trees, birds, and wildflower species, some of which are rare in Pennsylvania. One can also find places of solitude for quiet reflection along the trails. The beautiful rhododendron-lined Bear Run stream has been classified as a Scenic River by the Pennsylvania Scenic Rivers Act. Bear Run Nature Reserve is a WPC property where camping is allowed, and you are encouraged to take advantage of the provided campsites. One of WPC's most visited properties, our dedicated volunteers have worked to keep the reserve trails clear and in good condition. We invite you to be a part of this important work. Come and meet some terrific volunteers and enjoy this unique setting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Bear Run Nature Reserve.
