Protecting Fallingwater's Furniture from Humidity
Since 1985, Thom Gentle Consultants has provided comprehensive preservation maintenance for Fallingwater's furniture. Designed by Wright and specifcally fabricated for the site, the furniture's high-quality North Carolina black walnut veneered plywood was specified to be "ship quality" to resist warping from the humidity of the falls. However, this beautiful wood still needs occasional care.
Fallingwater began its 40th season this month. Come and visit what the American Institute of Architects (AIA) has voted the most important building of the 20th century.
