Sunrise in Venango County

The image at right was photographed from a WPC-owned parcel in Venango County, Pa. showing sunrise on the Allegheny River.

Nearly 8,500 acres of land (including 16 islands) have been acquired in the ongoing Allegheny River project. Three natural areas have been protected: Hoch and Nicholson islands and Sandy Creek Confluence. The purpose of this project is to protect the scenic beauty of the wooded hillsides and shorelines, provide better access to the river, and safeguard unspoiled habitat for several globally rare species of mussels and fish.

Today's photo provide by John M. Karian, who is a WPC member and does nature photography in Venango
County.
