Mosses of the Wetlands, Forests and Fields

One group of plants that remain green throughout the year are the mosses. There are hundreds of species of mosses in Pennsylvania and they inhabit a wide range of habitats. Sphagnum are common mosses of wetlands; they can absorb 20 times their own weight in water.
