Destination Thursday: Track a Turtle at Maurice K. Goddard State Park
Named for a man who greatly expanded the Pennsylvania state park system, Maurice K. Goddard State Park in Mercer County features the 1,860-acre Lake Wilhelm. Besides the water sports like fishing and boating, M. K. Goddard is a great park for watching wildlife. The large lake, abundant wetlands, old fields and mature forests provide a diversity of habitats that attract wildlife in all seasons. On a trip here you might see bald eagle, osprey, loons, teal, mergansers, woodcocks and many species of warblers. Turtles abound by the marina.
