Green Thumb Tuesday: Using Garlic as an Insect Repellent
When the time comes to deal with problems in your garden, consider a solution that will have the least impact on your ecosystem and the entire planet. Using garlic as an insect repellent is both safe and effective. The strong odor will actually help keep certain insects away from your plants. It is important to note that garlic water serves as only a deterrent, it's not an insecticide. Just keeping insects such as aphids, grasshoppers and spider mites out of your garden will help keep them from damaging your crop.
And the great thing about using garlic as a deterrent in your garden, whether it is on flowers or the food you're growing, is that you don't have to worry about the after effects as as you would with conventional pesticides. Garlic is both safe for you and the environment. And if you are concerned about this spray effecting the flavor of your homegrown produce, don't worry, it doesn't effect the taste.
