June 22, 2004 - Green Thumb Tuesday
![]() Green Thumb Tuesday: The Great Perrenial Divide If your perennials are showing signs of decline, they probably need to be divided. Since extreme heat and cold are major threats to newly divided perennials, it's best to divide in the spring or late summer. Western Pennsylvania Conservancy uses flowering perennials, such as the popular black-eyed susan, at many of its community gardens. Flowering perennials are intermixed with flowering annuals, shrubs and tress to provide four season interest to community gardens. Today's photo was taken at a WPC community garden located near the Highland Park Bridge. Tour our more than 170 Community Gardens.
