Destination Thursday: Celebrating the Wonders of the Buffalo Creek Watershed Join in at the Third Annual Buffalo Creek Watershed Festival, held this Sunday, May 23, at Dutch Fork Lake in Washington County. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is currently working with the Buffalo Creek Watershed Association to complete an assessment of this high quality watershed, which contains exceptional natural communities and a newly named Important Bird Area. The event, hosted by the Buffalo Creek Watershed Association, is to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature bird-watching trips, canoe trips (and combined bird-watching canoe trips), presentations by the Shrader Environmental Center and Good Zoo, and more. All trips and presentations are free to the public, and children are welcome. To arrive at Dutch Fork Lake, take I-79 South from the Pittsburgh area to Route 70 West. Take Route 70 West to the Claysville Exit (Old Exit 4) and follow signs to Dutch Fork Lake, then look for signs to the event. Call Ted Flickinger at (724) 663-4292 for more information.
