Water, water everywhere

This year's Fayette County Children's Water Festival was a huge success. More than 900 area sixth graders participated in the March 9, 2004 event held at Penn State Fayette Campus. Students learned about different aspects of water through classroom presentations and exhibits. Some topics included weather/rainfall, watersheds, macroinvertebrates, mining/abandoned mine drainage, litter and many more.

WPC's Director of Watershed Services, Mark Killar and Watershed Resource Specialist Ben Wright co-taught a class on Building a Watershed, while Watershed Data Analyst Eli Long and Watershed Resources Specialist Christy Starr Meredith presented a display called Fun with pH.

The photo above was taken by the Watershed Center's Jennifer Bennett, who served on the steering committee for the event, in the exhibit hall where students were quized on information from the different displays.
