WPC PRESIDENT LARRY SCHWEIGER NAMED PRESIDENT OF NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION Western Pennsylvania Conservancy bids farewell to leader and visionary
We congratulate Larry Schweiger on his exciting appointment as President of the National Wildlife Federation. The above photo, taken as he (second from left) guides WPC members at a recent Elk viewing near St. Mary's Pa., captures Larry as we will remember him; guiding our organization, expanding our ecological research, and connecting people to the natural world. On April 2, Larry will leave WPC after nearly eight years of dedicated service.
Among Larry's thoughts at this time:
I will leave Western Pennsylvania Conservancy at the end of the month. This is a bittersweet moment in my career. My time with WPC leaves much to celebrate. I am confident in the strong future of WPC. The organization is comprised of and supported by some of most dedicated and passionate people I know. This commitment can only lead to greater success for conservation in Western Pennsylvania. My time with Western Pennsylvania Conservancy has been one of great challenges, and great successes. Yet, much remains to be done, and I am sure WPC will continue to reach new achievements and success in preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of our region. I am extremely grateful for having had the opportunity to contribute to this important effort.
I believe this new opportunity will allow me to further advance key conservation issues, such as global climate change, which will in turn help preserve the great conservation work of WPC and the conservation efforts across our state.
