Green Thumb Tuesday: Perennials - a welcome addition to any garden An excellent way to enhance the winter landscape is to plant perennials that have year round ornamental characteristics; an exceptional example are ornamental grasses. Ornamental grasses provide color, texture, motion, and sound to an otherwise plain winter landscape. Western Pennsylvania Conservancy makes use of several different varieties of perrenials including ornamental grasses throughout Community Conservation Program community gardens and greening initiatives in western Pennsylvania. Ornamental perennials can be planted individually or massed in beds. Today's photo was taken this past weekend at the Scott/Carnegie Intersection off the Parkway West by WPC's Art DeMeo. If you would like more information about becoming a garden steward, or volunteering for one-day plantings, contact Marianne Cola at (412) 586-2324 or mcola@paconserve.org.
