Green Thumb Tuesday: Experimenting with annuals

A delightful way to experiment with the look and texture of your annual flower display(s) is initiated in the design phase. Color relationships, plant texture, bloom time, required light conditions, and soil requirements are some of the determining factors when selecting plant material. A well-planned garden is a vital step in achieving an impressive and successful garden.

The annual flower display combination pictured here is the Petunia-Purple Wave™ and Dusty Miller-Sliverdust. This past summer Arthur DeMeo, Community Conservation Landscape Specialist, took today's photo at the intersection of Wiegle Hill Road and Route 48 in Elizabeth, Allegheny County. The second combination used at this site was a mix of Petunia-Celebrity Ice Blue and Petunia-Dreams Midnight.
