Cross Country Skiing in Susquehannock State Forest

The Susquehannock State Forest derives its name from the Susquehannock Indians, which at one time claimed practically all of the land in this region. This state forest contains 262,000 acres primarily in Potter County, with parts in Clinton and McKean Counties.

Susquehannock State Forest offers 29.5 miles of cross country ski trails. Many foot trails, gated timber sale roads and old railroad grades are used by cross country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts. Over 200 miles of snowmobile trails are located on Susquehannock State Forest, all of which are found on the North Central Snowmobile Trails Map, available at the district office, which can be reached by phone at (814) 274-3600, or by email at fd15@state.pa.us.

Today's photo of skiers in the Susquehannock State Forest is from the WPC Resource Conservation archives. For more information, go to the DCNR website. For information on cross country skiing in other areas, go to Venture Outdoors or the Pennsylvania Cross Country Skiers Association websites.
