Long time Western Pennsylvania Conservancy members and volunteers, the Krater's, are shown watching for passing eagles on their second visit to the Allegheny Front Hawk Watch on a recent sunny day. Three eagles were reported seen on the day of their visit. A good number of golden eagles pass through this area on their way southward in November and early December.
On November 23rd of 2003, 51 golden eagles were seen passing the front on their way south. The Allegheny Front is one of the closest hawk watches to western Pennsylvania that reliably produces good numbers of migrating hawks. For an up-to-date record of the birds, visit the Allegheny Front Hawk Watch website.
