A Winter Walk at North Park's Latodami Environmental Education Center

The Latodami Environmental Education Center, part of Allegheny County Parks system, provides a variety of opportunities to school groups, organized clubs and the general public. Located in North Park, in Western Pennsylvania, Latodami consists of a barn, a pond, stream and wetland habitats, and 300 acres of forest and fields. Thirteen trails meander throughout the various habitats and invite exploration.

Venture out on Saturday, January 8th, for a guided winter walk on snow covered trails to learn how animals survive the winter months. Walkers will meet at the Nature Center Barn. Remember to dress for outdoor hiking. For more information on the Center and/or the hike, call (724) 935-2170, or visit the Friends of Latodami website at www.latodami.org.

Today's photo is from the WPC Resource Conservation files and, although not a picture of the Latodami Nature Center, features the beauty to be found on a snowy winter walk.
