Positive Energy: WPC and Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania
Join Forces to Beautify One of Pittsburgh's Busiest Intersections
and 12 Other Sites

What happens when you combine 75 volunteers, 6,000 flowers and an intersection that sees more than 400,000 motorists in a single week? Besides turning a patch of urban ground into a work of art, you will have made a lot of western Pennsylvania commuters' lives a little bit better.

While they can't make the traffic flow any faster through the summer's many detours, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania and Western Pennsylvania Conservancy are determined to brighten area motorists' commutes by replanting the large gateway garden at the south interchange of the Liberty Tunnels and 12 other Community Gardens spread throughout western Pennsylvania. Columbia has pledged funding and volunteers to support WPC's efforts across the region. The Liberty Tunnels planting took place on Friday and Saturday, May 10th and 11th. The other gardens were planted throughout May.
